  What is Direct TV?




      Direct TV is an American direct broadcast service provider which is located in EL Segundo, California. Its satellite service launched in June 17, 1994, transmits digital satellite television to households in United states, Latin America and Caribbean states, with an estimated value of $48.5 billion after acquisition of AT & T ‘s  which was done on July 30th, 2015, Primary competitors of Direct TV in U.S are Dish Network and Cable television Providers.

     Direct TV provides television and audio services to subscribers through satellite transmissions. Services include many local television stations, broadcast television networks, subscription television services, satellite radio services, and private video services.


       To receive the signals of Direct tv subscribers need to install a satellite dish, an integrated receiver/ decoder and a Direct TV access card, which is necessary to operate the receiver/decoder.

     Direct TV uses satellites located in geostationary orbit of earth to transmit signals which are encrypted to prevent unauthorized access.
     Consumers who purchase Direct Tv needs to subscribe to various packages provided by Direct TV for which the subscriber needs to pay a monthly fee, and a monthly fee for protection plan which provides repair of replacement of the consumer leased equipment from damages caused by lightning, power fluctuations and natural calmatives like floods.

      In addition to serving residences, Direct TV offers service to bars, restaurants, hotels, dorms, and hospitals through their Direct TV for business service. The company also offered mobile service for cars, boats, and RVs (Direct TV Mobile) as well as aircraft (Direct TV Airborne) in cooperation with Connection by Boeing. Beginning in November 2016, Direct TV Now will be an internet streaming TV service.
